Brother, can you spare a float?
24 Oct 2007 05:29
My 750 twin has leaking float and I have made a couple of attempts to repair to no avail. Anybody got an extra or point me in the direction of one?

Wisconsin, as matter of fact this bike came from Lafayette,IN, Ebay, $300, last November. Funny how they look alot better in the photos. Pretty much worked on it all winter and was mostly done in May. Got to get before and after pics up on here.

if u only have a pin hole u can solder it.just make sure the hole is at the bottom when u do so it does not fill up with solder.keep the iron under the float. then sand off all extra so its not heavyer than the rest.after riding for a while check the plug to see if it is running rich ,and adjust the air screw or float level if neccesary.Hope this helps.

Fond du Lac, WI. I've made a couple of attempts to solder, albeit with a crappy tip on the soldering gun. Heating it to solder creates a vacuum which when placed in water after cooling manages to open up some pinhole somewhere (lets water in but no air out, so where's it leaking? dunno)Seemed like when I didn't think I needed carbs or carb parts this winter there were all sorts of carbsets for sale on ebay, lately nothing.

I have a set of what I think are 38's. They do not look exactly like the KZ’s but the float bowls look the same. I think they may be from a yamaha maybe. I will get them on Monday and pop a bowl off for a picture. I will not be up FDL way for a few weeks. Live in Milwaukee and I go to Appleton once in awhile. Always try to stop at the Stretch on the way through.
