650 Airbox interchange??? was created by rdgrnr
Hey all,
Does anyone know if the 79 650 Airbox will work on the 77? Or for that matter, are there other years that will interchange? I was also wondering where I might find the part # for the 77 to check it against boxes from other years as well..
Thanks,

They should all be the same. The only differance I would think would be the hole in front for the emmision hose from the valve cover, which either one will work.

I think I have 2 or 3 airboxes sitting at home now. The rubbers prob aren't any good though. If you are interested we could make a really cheap deal. Let me know!!;)

The 79 is not the exact same and has a different part number due to the emissions hose nipple on it as bluemeanie mentioned. That can be plugged and it can be used on a 77 just fine. About sniping on ebay, I get so dang angry because nearly every single thing I ever want to buy I get outbid by $1 at the end. I thought it was just me :P
What gets me is there can be an item on there I want but I don't bid and it sells for $50, the next day the exact same item comes up and I bid $100 to be way on the safe side. It will sell for $101 every time! I don't get it.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Ron, as far as sniping, heres what you do! (maybe you already know this, if so disregard) You have your window open always refreshing as you watch the time. Open a SECOND window and have a higher bid already to go, Have one finger hovering over the "confirm" button while you refresh in the other window. Seconds left and you get sniped, if 2-3 seconds left hit confirm button and you've won it! I tjust depends how much time they leave you to hit button. I did NOT do this and they sniped me with 7 seconds left, I could have confirmed and screwed them!! I lost this last week...

There is one sure way to stop sniping. Bid the max you are willing to pay for the item the first time. If a sniper wants to pay more than you'd pay for the item, they'll get it. If they want to pay $10 less than you, then you'll get the item for $9 less than what you'd be willing to pay for it.

Thanks all for the input. I did find a nice airbox from a 79 that will work by plugging the emission hole. I am done being a sniping victim. I bid what I'm willing to pay, and if it goes higher, so be it. There seems to be plenty of KZ parts out there anyway.

OK,
The airbox is here and I'm ready to clean and polish it and should be installing it this weekend. The mount brackets did come with it, but does anybody maybe have a closeup pic of where it gets mounted to? I looked in the book and that was no help:(
With all the wiring, it's hard to tell, but does it get mounted to the battery box?
