Funny, their instructions for the jet kit install say just that,
2. Use the slide drill (DD #7/64) provided to enlarge the slide
lift hole (Fig. A).

No way!!! Stop the insanity!!!

The slide lift-hole is the offset hole. That alters the lift rate.

If someone didn't know any better, they's drill out the center hole like it says, not the offset hole. I bet someone's done that.

Because the Dyno Jet Kits use to be K&N Kits, it looks as if the copying of the pictures is the only problem. The full picture here is of the K&N Stage 1 & 3 Kit from a '84-> Gpz550:

The one below is of the Dyno Jet Stage 1 & 3 '82-'83 GPz550:

I've added the arrow to the offset hole in the second picture above, but it looks as if the picture's been cut off. from the original

Don't enlarge the center slide hole.

The center slide needle hole is smaller than the #32 drill bit supplied, and also larger than the offset hole.

Yeah, they really dropped the ball on copying the instructions. That will screw up some folks for sure.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi. Im about to rejet mine for pods and 4-1. what would happen if i didnt drill the offset hole and should my throttle cable bracket have this curve in it. The throttle sticks open, cable in line is slack but revving @ 3-4 K

I asked Dynojet that same question and this was their reply:
Enlarging the slide lift holes, make the slide lift faster for better throttle response. If they are not modified as the instruction say, the gains will not be as good as they should be and the needles may need to be adjusted.

Looking at your picture, that really needs to be fixed before you put those carbs back on.

spoke to a local dynajet technician who advised me to be very careful when taking US related jet sizes as it seems your fuel is a different formula to ours over here and is a bit stronger. On his adevice Im going to keep it stock for the time being with standard airbox and just richen up the needle for the 4-1's. Thanks for your help. Im now trying to source new needle jets and air ducts. ;)
