1/4 vs 1/8 mile drag racing.
11 May 2022 08:20
I use to race 1/4 mile back in Michigan. Down here in North Carolina it's all 1/8 mile racing. On the 1/4 mile track my stocker does 12 seconds flat if I am doing my job. Anyone have any guesses what I might run in the 1/8 mile?

I will play along and guess, cause that is what this is, 1/4 time of 12 sec would be somewhere between 7.5 and 8 sec.

I did not think to try and google for a calculator for something like this. Thanks! I was really just looking for someone that had maybe done the same thing and had a guess. I will find out soon enough. I hope to hit Mooresville Dragway in the next couple of weeks for a test and tune.

Re: 1/4 vs 1/8 mile drag racing.
20 May 2022 05:22I went to the track last night for test and tune. Out of 6 runs I made 3 of them were 7.7 seconds at 89 mph. The other 3 runs: I slept at the line on the first pass (first time on a pro tree for me) and the other 2 I dumped the clutch and smoked the tire off the line. I almost dropped my bike getting it off the trailer, luckily there was a guy nearby who came to my rescue! It was good to be back on the track and having some fun. It was a little rough on me too. I got kicked by one of our horses a few months ago and last night proved I probably need to go get a MRI on that knee. I don't know what I was doing to irritate it but by the end of the track I was sticking my leg out straight to relieve the pain (at 89 mph). Getting old sucks. I had 2 guys trying to buy my bike. One guy asked every time he walked by me. wrote: 7.7 seconds according to this table.

As a (very) young man, I got to witness Russ Collins set the speed record of 199.55 MPH. Like Larry's run, it took much body english to keep it on track.

Props to you Mr. McBride. Very well done Sir.
