On a stock rim you could fit what a 130 tire all sucked in right ?
Any of the 120-130/ 18" tires on the market now will spin way before it slip's on the rim.

Now if you got room and want to stay with a spoked 18" rim a 150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium on a 3 1/2" rim is hands down the stickiest 18" tire you can buy.
I'm about half way through my second one the only reason I'd switch tire is if I did 17" wheel swap to run a Hookup.

Bike has been running great! Looking forward to the next race. I think I am going to leave the tire I have on there for one more race. My question today is about running race fuel. I always run premium, but would some high octane race fuel make a difference? Would it hurt anything? I use to go to the sand dunes with my buddies on our 3 wheelers. The guys riding the Honda 350x's said premium was enough, But my ported and polished 250r sure ran better on 110 octane race fuel. Anyone have any experience running race fuel in their KZ?

Been reading a lot about this lately and "most say" to use a lower octane with 9.5 to one with maybe a 89, 91 octane reading even some saying 87 but I'm still not sold on this and 93 oct with 10.5 to one....... the race fuel will hurt performance slightly unless your running 12.5 or 13.5 to one. Goggle it and you'll have plenty to read on the subject.

I found a station that's not to much of a drive for me that sells 91 octane pure gas (ethanol free) on the pure-gas.org website that's suppose to give a little more power but its pretty minor..... but I figure every bit helps

Call Corrigan oil in Brighton MI. They can tell you where near you they have a station selling race gas ( Turbo Blue probably ).
As far as needing it , probably not needed but sure smells good burning .
I use it when racing but I run high boost turbo motor

Ah yes! I love the smell of high octane fuel on race day! I'm thinking I should just try a tank. I won't at the next race because I want to see if the small changes I made make a difference in my 1/4 mile times. I think my main concern about using it during racing is the motor running hotter.

Went to the track again Saturday. Only managed to get 4 runs in. The first run was a 12.45, tire spun, went a little sideways, off the throttle and then right back on it. Second run I decided to try leaving in second gear and slip the clutch, 13 second run. Third run I decided to leave in first gear but at lower rpms hoping not to spin the tire, 12.03 at 109.1mph! That was more like it. 3 time trials and eliminations started. Lost in the first round. 12.21 at 108mph. I think I got a little excited and had the rpms up to high resulting in tire spin and I have a terrible reaction time, usually in the .3 second range. I do occasionally get lucky with better reaction times.

On a side note, drag racing mini bikes are way cool! I think I might build one.

I've been wanting to go make a few pass but it's just been too damn hot.
When it's a 100 degrees in the shade and we have unshaded staging lane's it's a bitch to sit there in
in full leather's for 5 or 10 mintue's.

This Saturday is race day! I need to ride the bike and use up the gas in it so I can try a tank 110 octane. I hope at some point I get to run some Harleys, it's the only way I beat anyone on an even start. Otherwise I'm running against those damn Busa's! I love smokin Harleys in the 1/4 mile! Still running the old tire. I keep thinking I need to change it, but you don't burn off as much rubber as you would think doing burnouts.

Went racing again last weekend. Drained the fuel tank and got a couple gallons of Turbo Blue 110 octane. Still running the same old tire. during time trials I managed to line up against 2 harleys, one of them a vrod, and beat both from an even start! I also had the pleasure of racing a 85ish Kawasaki ZRX1100. First race against him and I ran an 11.98 at 109mph, he ran an 11.96. That was an exciting race! The 11.98 run is the fastest my bike has ever gone. Later in the night I ran several other 12.0x times (12.03, 12.05, 12.06). So when I'm on my game that bike is a 12 second bike. Things are improving. I realized racing in August that a slight lower rpm off the line is better because the tire does not spin. I continued that this time and I think that shows in the results. It came time to decide what my dial in time was going to be and that was a tough choice. My last time trial run was a 12.20, and just before that was a 12.03. I dialed in at 12.15. I ran a 12.157 in the first elimination round winning my race. The second round I kept the same dial in and ran a 12.109 breaking out and loosing the race. Oh well, all in all it had been a good night so I loaded up and left (at 11:30pm).

One other worthy note. I've always struggled with my reaction times and often they were in the .3 second range, which really sucks and will lose you a lot of races. I talked to a friend at the track and asked what his secret was. No big secret really, but his advice did help me some. He said he counts down the tree like "1 2 3 go!". Just doing that got my reaction times to around .15 or less. I think with more practice it will get better. Anyone else have any techniques you use to cut a good light?

Cool man! I had fun running with you. I will be at the next race too, October 14th. How far into eliminations did you make it?
