For anyone that follows them, The NHRA Pro Stock Bike class starts back up next weekend. I watched the Nitro Harley division run when in Pamona last month and it's so awesome to see and hear them in person. Got some great vid clips too. Can't wait 'til they come back to Pamona in November! Here's the link to their 2016 racing schedule. www.nhra.com/schedules/2016psm.aspx ........................................Mike

I don't really keep up with NHRA pro stock bike's since it's became pretty much a harley class.
Once HD added their money sponsoring the class NHRA pretty much changed the rule's to
the point if it's not an HD or Buell it's not competitive.
Hell even V/H's run's HD's and Buell's just to stay in the game.
1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.
Wiseco 810cc kit.
Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.

Thanks Mike! Finally! Someone who appreciates NITRO motorcycle racing! Harley's do rock all the sense's. All Nitro defie's the laws of physics! Sucks the air out of your lungs from the concussion for 5 seconds! Stands the hair on your neck! Vibrates your ear drums! Burns your eye balls!
Japanese 4 cylinders also! I worked with a Kaw Fueler in the late 80's early 90's.
Nothing like them in the world!

Z1KZonly do you know Spiderman? When I wrote the first sentence I did not see your picture of Spiderman, I guess you took the word right out of my mouth, Does he still own the 1/4 mile record?
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

I met Larry many times! His last chassis that just burned up was "old blue" "Puppet" hand built that chassis 20 years ago. I hung with
"Jim Mangus" Jims Cylinder Heads in Buffalo. We traveled south and east to the ECRA ,SCRA, ProStar, IDBA. Larry hung with all the fuel guys.
That picture of the early bike was in Piedmont, NC in 1989 1/8 mile track.
He was a jokester, always playin pranks on everybody. Tall lanky bastard! He laid out on that fueler almost 8 feet long.
Good times, lots of memories. I wish I had more pictures, never thought of that back then.

Yeah I just love racing...no matter what the brand or class, harley's or whatever they are. Nitro classes are like no other, especially when you can catch the aroma when then rumble by. I got a few clips of them running in Pamona from the stands. I'll try to find them and load 'em to youtube so I can post the links. Buddy of mine from the Kaw dealer I worked at in high school back in Tulsa in the mid-late '70's had a nitro Z1-900 he built himself and ran quite regular at our local strip. ....................Mike

Darnell and Boyer in the Pomona finals run of Top Fuel Harley. No clue what happens to Boyer but he fouls crossing center line giving Darnell the win time 6.435/218mph. Eliminations was much more entertaining with awesome close runs. Next time I'll be much closer to start line for better vids. Definately a one-of-a-kind sound to them bikes that's for sure.

I wish the IDBA was still around. Bought my first KZ900 from a racer in the pits at Norwalk Raceway Park back in about 1989. Every one had a unique bike.
