Kawasaki OEM KZ900 Early KZ1000A model shocks
Yesterday 03:11
Doing a KZ900 Original Restoration and needing a pair of original shocks Please! Requirements are nice lower dampers/preload selectors, straight and NO wear along piston shaft. Also Pit/Corrosion/Dent free upper metal cans. Springs can be rusty a bit, replacing anyway. Also noteworthy but hard to determine, Damping, can't be leakers. I'm not asking for too much am i??

Greetings mon ami:
I have a set of original rears on my KZ1000A1 BUT the uppers are a bit rusty. When the motorcycle was last ridden, they did not leak...springs are rusty. I already have a set of replacements. I'll sent you a photo.

Merci mon ami! Couldn't count how many of those i'd pitched in the weekly trash over the years. Until i started redoing them, little late now, ha. I still have about 3 but the tops are riddled with spotty pits of rust and rechroming never gives the results of the original finish. Wrong kind of shiny if that makes sense. Did You ever source a centerstand?

Well, I guess this set of rear shocks also goes into the trash
. And I did find a crusty KZ1000A1/2 centerstand...which cleaned up nicely in Evapo-rust.

Before you do something with those shocks peek down around the piston rod, where it comes thru the damper, and see if that rod is shiny all around the circumference. Sometimes the bits of these are still good, they come apart in about 10 minutes each.
