KJ1000J Cylinder Head Parts
18 Feb 2025 05:38
I want to thin down a set of valve retainers. I'm looking for a wasted intake or exhaust valve and a pair of retainers.

Got a bag full of that crap, sounds like you ran out of clearance?

Why just have one when You can have two! The intake is NOS, other Exhaust
also OEM but used and checked for consistent stem thickness and "should" be straight. Have a baggie of good "round" keepers you want to slice a bit of the tops off but just pedestrian and not pictured.

Kawasaki part numbers are Intake 12004-1013, Exhaust 12005-1011. And never faced exhaust valve with minimal wear and good margin on tulip.

Currently all exhausts are ok, but marginal. I prefer a thou or 2 over the recommended for safety. One has a 2.00 and two have 2.05 shims. It is called getting prepared. I hunted ebay for them., I will gladly pay and shiping. I'm just going to cut the tulip off to get them in a lathe. Got any extra keepers only need one valve.

Being in a car the cylinder head is quite easy to get to, on the other hand the clutch cover is about 1/2' from a frame tube so the motor has to come out and assembling the exhaust is like a jigsaw puzzle. Currently working on a new longer throttle cable. Nobody wants to make custom lengths anymore and Motion Pro is about 6 months out. So I'm using a stock KZ one as I need the 90 degree bend and then adapting to a special made straight one about 30" long that I can have made. Of course special mounting required to keep it as straight and friction free as possible.

So sounds like you're just needing a 7mm stem to use as a tool and not a whole valve? If just using it to hold the keepers and valve retainer for milling then any KZ valve will do.

Correct. I could use any 7mm valve stem, but I don't know the keeper angle. Generally somewhere between 7-10 degrees. Found it on Kibblewhite site, 7 degree, hopefully local auto machinist will have something hat fits as 7mm is quite common these days.
