Damn you Daveo, I couldn't control my evilbay finger  looks like I may have some APE blanking plates surplus to requirement (let's see what condition the replacement cover is in when it get's here)

one of three non smog valve covers.....

The later non smog covers have some extra rips to reinforce the area (cracks).
Also owned one of these rare pice of aluminum metal...
Three types of these non smog covers were made, as flat, flat/stiffen and round casting edge section.
I will post pics of the casting differences later.......

 
 

Hm, the valve cover with the extra fin to reinforce the area is missing in my parts shelf.
Have to look/dig deeper in my parts catacombs....

 
 
 

 

Interesting that cast gusset cover feature is significant.
Until now I only thought it unusual.

Your non-smog valve cover is very special and rare, so keep it!
What the fuc* my memory brain cells decreased, where is my cover get lost, have to do a forced seach for it.......

Happens to me all the time.  It's somewhere hidden among the other things we forgot to keep track of.



So happy when I found this one listed on Ebay in 2012.  It shipped from Sweden, and has sat atop this engine ever since.


Plucked the refurb cover off Ebay UK in May this year. 
It was black and needed new paint.  The shiny ends required a good bit of careful sanding/polishing to get past years of oxidation and neglect.
Not quite there yet... 


So what is it about having the reinforcements that make these covers so special?  More info pleeze... 🧐
