The '93 750 Nighthawk petcock we're dealing with is the original OEM Keihin petcock. 33 yr. old diaphragm has stiffened so much it's reluctant to stay open even briefly between vacuum pulses while cold starting. It opens with mild vacuum held using a vacuum pump just fine. The one we located on fleaBay & is now installed appears identical to the original except for band logo. Likely the same tooling. OEM and new have a M20x1 nut.
Thanks everyone for the 'off brand' assistance. We'll not make a habit of it.
