Tried new de-rusting product today.... was created by toyotakzrider
hello everyone,
So I was reading my grassroots motorsports magazine the other day, and ran across this stuff they used to de-rusting things called "evapo-rust" It seemed to be avalable locally at autozone and harbor freight according to their website, so I went to autozone and picked up a small bottle of it. I had taken the mechanical advance off of my 82 750csr to clean it yet again because it kept getting rusty. Sooo I took it all apart into it's tiny little bits and soaked it for 24 hours in this "evapo-rust" which claims to make the rust just go away. I bought a small bottle because I didn't believe a word they say. I mean rust just doesn't disappear. After 24 hours, I took the parts out and ......OMFG not a spec of rust left anywhere......I swear it's witchcraft in a bottle or something.....So I found a rusted solid set of fishing pliers that I used to use in salt water.....dropped those in for about 4 hours. and they came out RUST FREE and WORKING again like they used to.
This stuff is the most amazing stuff that I've ever seen for rust removal.....
That's it,
Eric

The problem is that the rust damaged whatever was protecting the material, now that the rust is gone it will really start to rust again unless you recoat it with something to protect it.

well the reason it rusted before was because there was no protection from it. a good rust inhibitor petroleum based product will help prevent further rusting. but the fact that it was eliminated so easily is simply amazing.
