I have been working on my KZ750 . I started to do a little home work on cleaning the rust off of the chrome and found this on YouTube . It does work my sissy bars look nice . Hope some one ells can use this info. .

that's awesome i have a few items that could use cleaning up. nice and cheap looks like it works good

I've always heard that would work but didn't know the details. Wonder what happens? Does the foil leave residue on the rough surface...how long does it last? Be something to try thogh. Nothing to lose!

After you wipe it clean with a cloth it is just the chrome . The foil is softer than the chrome so it will not scratch it . I have tried it before I posted it . Sorry no pics . I need to get some new battery for the camera . I like to try things before passing the info. on just to see if it does work . This bike is being built on a very low budget . I like to save every where I can .

It works good. Ive used it for years. I spray it down with wd 40 and rub it down.

This is one of those cases when wd40 would probably be a good product to use.
It looks like the guy in the video is using water, which doesn't seem like a good idea.
I would immediately polish the chrome w BlueMagic or something.

They do recommend after a good drying ( They doe use water ) to polish .

Mythbusters: collection 1, episode 5

In that episode they test a bunch of myths about cola. The only myth that held true was cola's ability to clean a chrome bumper. To test that myth, they used aluminum foil to do the rubbing. In their experiment, the foil/cola combo did better than a comercial chrome cleaner.
