Gas Supply Container

Good Morning
I have an old IV stand I use to hang tools when I am working on my Z1-B and to hang the 4 gauge set to calibrate carbs etc. I am trying to come up with something to hang from the old IV stand that will hold an adequate gas supply to feed the bik,for use when the gas tank is off the bike for ease of tuning,or other work. Anyone using something like this that is either easy to fabricate or inexpensive to buy.??
The old IV stand is very convienent!!

Update:08/19/2010
Bought a Motion pro Plastic Gas Container from Z1E, Think I will like it!!
Thanks!!
Have 1975 Kawasaki Z1-B & 2003 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic
Had Hondas, Harleys and many ,many Z Series Kaws both Std. & LTD's

Not sure if it's inexpensive, but Z1Enterprises.com sells an auxiliary fuel supply that would work perfectly w your IV stand.

I have an old lawnmower tank that I got from the corner mower shop. It's a heavy duty plastic & has a nipple molded into it for attaching the fuel line. I've attached it to the bike for syncing the carbs & then going for a test ride.

From your local auto supply. Less than 9 bucks. I use a windshield washer fluid reservoir. Has a pair of tabs for mounting. I squeeze the hose with a pair of hose crimp pliers to shut off the gas.

I just use the stock gas tank, put it up on my tool cart with a towel under so it doesn't scratch. then hook up with a piece of clear tube and a in line filter. Pinch or block any petcock vacuum hose. One thing is you tune on the same gas you ride with.

not sure the price, but if your looking for something that would fold flat or roll up.... you can find "portable showers" at most camping supply shops including walmart- large hangable plastic bag with a valve and a shower head on a tube-- would think this would convert easily

Gasoline dissolves many types of plastics, some more quickly than others.

Would be very careful about using any plastic container not positively known to be absolutely gasoline proof. And certainly not store any gasoline in it.

That's why it's best imo to use an old lawn mower gas tank, or a gas tank from some other source, as the temporary supply tank.

Thanks to ed spangler, above, and to Jeff at Z1E for suggesting usefulness of a hospital style I.V. stand to support the temporary tank. :cheer:

Good Fortune! :)

i converted a rabbit water bottle, but the gas swelled the screw on top and it popped off with nearly catastrophic results. as stated above, gas will dissolve many types of plastics, but sometimes just swells and softens it. you should let it sit overnight full of fuel to make sure it will be ok since it took over an hour to swell and pop off almost burning my street fighter to the ground
