What a expensive oil drain plug.....
12 Dec 2006 20:47
as my previous post, I need a new oil drain plug. However, I found on the website and it cost me $23 with shipping ........why this nut is so expensive? it's just a simple 19mm nut, nothing special design on it.....
I don't get it!!

It has a magnet and o-ring. Oh yeah and it's better than the one you have.
I think they make them weak so you have to replace them. BASTARDS!

Might give this a try for the next one. Don't know if the o-ring is included or whether a generic o-ring of correct size may be readily available from the usual local sources.

Consider yourself lucky.
I did not need a new plug, but the threads in my bikes oil pan got stripped! A little trickier to fix than needing the plug.

I'd take it to the autoparts store and see what they have in their replacement parts stock. I might also use google to see what other vehicles use a 19mm plug and visit the dealer and compare to what they have. I'm much too cheap to pay $23 for that thang

If you think that's expensive, have a look at the cost of a brake lever adjustment bolt & nut! AUD$60.00 over here.
......Oh yeah, plus shipping.
