Engine case interchange
03 Dec 2006 14:34
Hi, Can anyone tell me if the engine case from a 1988 KZ1000 police model can be used to house the guts from a 1983 kz1100 shaft engine? I found one on ebay and from the pics, it looks the same but i'm not sure

Yes, I am planning to keep the shaft. That is one thing i am wondering about as the case on ebay came from a chain drive. Also i am not sure if my cyl block will fit as it is a 1000cc and mine is a 1100.

If I were you I would convert to chain drive, that way you can have some gearing options.
fitting larger cylinders is no trouble, you may have to bore the cases a bit to fit, but this can be done with a dremmel or die grinder or machine shop (if your lazy and have the cash:P )
