spring seat removal

i need to measure the valve stem highth on my 77 kz1000.service manual says to remove spring seat and measure from bottom of head(where spring seat sets)to top of valve.does anyone know how to remove spring seat.picture shows nothing that would hold seat in.possible stuck?mine won't come out.having problem with cam not turning over all the way and need to measure stem highth.

valve stem seals have to be off,turn the head upside down and press on one side of the seat,it should just fall out then.
oil has it stuck to the head.

they can be a pain to get out.

if the oil has it stuck could i use a dental pick or continue to press side to side?

dental pick would work if you have enough room between the spring base and the guide,I just let gravity help me get em out,sometimes it just pops out and sometimes I have to fiddle with em for a while.

wash the head/bucketbores out good with gas and they should just fall out.

spray the seat down with some carb cleaner, then use a pencil magnet and work it around in a circle on the seat, it will slide up the valve guide

I used a little magnetic pick-up tool on mine.
