CSR Vs 76 - 81 LTD Rocker Cover Gaskets

:silly: hey Ppl can anyone tell me if the 82 CSR Twin Rocker Cover Gasket is the same as the earlier 76-81 LTD Twins ?

I think it's different because of the air injecton on the head of the 82 models (US versions anyway), but I don't know for sure.
You can check the part numbers at www.kawasaki.com to see if the part numbers are the same. I'd take a look myself but I'm on my way out the door to go to work.

:dry: Tks Steell, Part numbers are different but the only difference "looks" to be the addition of a gallery probably for the air injection, it may be able to be cut away from the gasket without any effect to it sealing. Anyway at $8 each I'll give them a try!! and I'll let you know. Also we also have got an 81 750 LTD (pic on my profile) now as well! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhh dear I think its a sickness!! Trevor.

On models with the clean air system, if the only difference in gaskets is the air ports for the exhaust AND you're going to use the newer gasket on the older motor...YES..just cut those little projections of the gasket off with a razor blade after you install the gasket.

Example...you could use a 1980 KZ 1000 valve cover gasket on a 77...

i thought the valve cover on a 79-80 kz1000 was more squared on ends compared to the 73-78 valve cover.ive used the older style 73-78 valve cover on the 79-80 style head.
