horsepower guesses
24 Nov 2006 21:05
itsgonna be a while before this motor is finished but just for $hits and grins i wanna see what everybody expects for hp out of this project.i know the bottem end dont make any hp but it holds it all together so here it goes.z1 cases with main cap brace and heavy studs, undercut trans, heavy 2nd gear, welded mkII crank with rods shotpeened and polished beams and blueprinted pump.top end:wiseco 1395 kit(1385cc)10.25:1,very good breathing dual plugged/ ported j-head,turbo cams around .340 lift,38.6 intake valves 33 exhuast valves, blow through turbo running 9-10 lbs boost with fuel injection and dyna 2000 ignition . there will also be a little polished aluminum bottle in front of back wheel, but it willl probably never get used!
allrigt any ideas what this thing will do?im hoping for 200hp on a really mild low boost street tune,id cant imagine what it would do in the  oh my god state of tune!
allright start guessing and we'll see who gets closest;)ill think of a prize:P

with race gas (c16 or so), boost cranked up to about 20-25 psi(with the inner cooler hooked up), possible water injection system, and a big shot of the giggle juice, Im guessing 400+HP

can a prize be a set of swingarm extensions?

At the wheel. 10lb boost. no nitrous. no intercooler. no water. no alcohol. 103 octane(usa method). 230HP with EFI only, 250HP with full ECU, after careful tuning.

Oh, I'd say at least 8. Maybe 9 or 10 if he remembers to install a head gasket and uses a hunk of pipe on the crescent wrench while torquing down the nuts.

Enough HP for me to know I shouldn't have it available at a twist and enough years of accumulated common sense to know I really don't want it sitting between my legs. Besides there is only room there for one monster and I'm sticking with the one I got. But I am a real fond of watching others tease the black rider! Just make sure YOU BEAT HIM! I really don't want to see the alternative ending. Just be careful womping on that thing!

Maybe 200 hp, depending on how much timing you have to pull out to compensate for the 10.25:1 compression ratio.
I suspect that it will be a real bear to tune:woohoo:

totally uneducated guess coming up........
190HP @ 10,000RPM with 10Psi boost......... and probably still climbing up the chart.
I'd need a seat belt and a bigger pair to go play with it though.

220 flywheel @ 9000 RPM with 11.8 psi running on E85. slap an intercooler with a 60% efficiency on it and you are up to 232 flywheel @ 9000 RPM.
I really dont think you are going to put 10 psi to good use on gasoline with 10.25:1 static.
Remember a efficient timing curve will make more power than boost. It SEEMS the only way you will pull it off is on race gas or E85.

that j-head will drop the 10.25:1 to an instant 8.25:1 which is why im running the 10.25s to begin with to compensate for that head.:evil:Maybe 200 hp, depending on how much timing you have to pull out to compensate for the 10.25:1 compression ratio.
