Not yet, but a good oil temp gauge will be a first on my list.

I have one. I got it for $5 at Mid Ohio in July. It was in a box and the guy was not sure was it was for. He thought it was for air but the gauge was oil filled so I figured I would take a chance. I rigged up some adapters from the hardware store and made it fit. It works great and looks good too. Just make sure you find one that reads very low pressures. I think I run around 6psi or something like that. It is pretty low so most gauges wont even give a reading. I can get a pic if you need

Kawtoy, I was just wondering what kind of oil pressures we are working with the 900/1000/1100 engines. I assume that 6psi is at idle? Any idea what operating pressures might be in the mid to high rpm's?

I have one that isn't accurate. I have in my oil line. I just wanted something showing I have pressure.

Probably 6 psi at mid to high rpms :)

900/1000/1100 have roller bearings instead of plain bearings, so no restriction to the oil flow (ok, real low restriction :) )

If you are accustomed to plain bearing motors it can give you a heart attack :D

The older roller bearing engines ie: 900, 1000's etc won't show the type of oil pressure numbers that the plain bearing mills will (my KZ650 for example). I'm not sure what the actual values would be, but I would think 25psi average for the plain bearing engines and maybe less than half that for the roller motors. Hot of course.
In case anyone was wondering :cheer:

happy turkey day, dudes!

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Aww, Steell Ya beat me to the post. ;)

I am running an oil pressure gauge from MC Enterprises, it cost around $60. When the engine is fully warmed it rarely shows any pressure at all. My factory shop manual calls for only 3 pounds of pressure at 3,000 RPMs at an operating temp of 60 degrees Centigrade. I also have the oil temperature gauge ordered from www.Americanclassix.com and have to say they both dress up the engine real nice.

I have a Marshall gauge (15psi, oil filled). You can pick em up for about $20, and there's a few different colors www.marshallinstruments.com/catalog/performance.cfm

Here's a link to a BIN ebay auction for the exact gauge I have: tinyurl.com/yl3p3j
The seller is a local store in San Diego that I deal with for stuff like this. They did my brake lines as well.

Then all you need is an elbow (regular NPT) and an adapter to the gauge, available from any home improvement store.

3psi at idle sounds about right.Once the engine warms up the gauge cuts out, that's normal.

I run a 0-15 psi gauge on my turbo bike - once warm it settles down to around 3 psi. I only run the gauge as the oil pressure switch on my bike has been replaced with a Mr Turbo oil pressure restricter. That part screws into the normal oil pressure switch position.

i also have a oil pressure gauge on my 900. Like everyone says, it shows about 3 lbs hot at idle. Mine is just a liquid filled gauge with a brass 90 degree fitting. Pretty cool, you can look down and see the oil pressure. I can try to post some pics tomarro if you'd like.
