clutch and kick starter was created by bkitchen
I was having trouble with my clutch so I took off the clutch cover and took out all of the clutch plates and inspected them. I cleaned up some of the metal ones because they looked like they had been "stuck" to the fiber ones. The bike had been sitting for a while. Put it back together and it seemed to work, with the bike not running I adjusted it so when I pulled it in I could feel the clutch engage by moving the bike. But now when my clutch is adjusted in enough the kick starter will not engage even in neutral. I know when you have the clutch pulled in it doesn't work. Any ideas? This is on the KZ900.

Before no matter how much I adjusted the clutch in it wouldn't engage. Clutch lever was very hard to pull in. can anyone tell me how the clutch and kick starter are put together?

Is it possible to either push the clutch basket in or maybe shim the kick starter gear out? Is there any type of shims or washers behind the clutch basket? I didn't take it that far down to see.
