i am thinking about marrying parts for a 1988 zx 600c ninja(sub frame...forks...tree....triple...wheels...foot pegs...and such) to my 1976 kz 750...the front end from the zx 6 looks ok except for it is in the need of racers and bearings. does anyone got any ideas for a swing arm that will fit...because the holes for the rear axel is bigger than the axel that is for the wheel
from the ninja and will all this i am doing acually work safely. i want to use the single shock i got from the ninja...but i want to do it right and not kill myself on the road

Why not use the swingarm off the Zx600?

sounds like what you really want is a zx600.

I have seen posts on other forums in which people successfully installed single shocks onto old bikes, but it requires a lot of grinding, cutting, and welding on the frame and like you say, it's the sort of thing that needs to be done right or it falls off at the wrong time.

You should also keep in mind that geometery is important on a bike. swapping frames and suspensions between bikes can throw things off as far as weight distribution and such, causing a bike that handles strangely or dangerously.
By no means am I saying not to do it, in fact I double dog dare you to:evil: Just make sure to do your research and get it done right.

You don't have to go to other forums to see single shock conversions, if you do a search (or even look in the Gallery), you will find at least KZ650, KZ750 (both twins and fours), KZ900, and KZ1000's that have been converted to modern suspension.

Wow that's a lot of work to reuse the KZ750 engine. Like Steell said, there are plenty of examples out there of mono-shock KZ's. Just remember that a KZ's frame flex's a lot more then modern bikes so don't expect same level handling.

Let us know how this progresses.
