GpZ750 into a KZ650 was created by medic24
Has anyone put a GpZ750 engine into a KZ650? Any particular problems? How was the end result?
Thanks
Dave

79 KZ650SR in my garage with a 83 GPz750 motor in it right now
You will either have to switch the rear sprocket to a 630 or have a custom front sprocket made if you use a 83-85 GPz750 motor though, the 83-85 GPz750 uses an offset front sprocket.
There are other things you need to do also.

DOH.... yep, it's an 82. Any particular fit problems? Different engine mounts, etc?
Thanks

Just a matter of spacers and adapting the charging system and electronic ignition, no offset sprocket required so it should be pretty easy.

The 650 stator can be used on the 750 motor, then it's just a plug in operation. I'm not sure if the 750 reg/rec will plug into the 650 harness, we used a 83 GPz750 motor and it may be different than the KZ750 reg/rec.
The 750 igniter can be mounted on the 650 fairly easily, that way you have a reliable electronic ignition for low cost.
