I have measured five 750 four primary chains in a search for a good one to install in my GPz750, and every one of them was at or beyond the specified service limits.
So I search online and the only ones I can find are OEM Kawasaki, and they cost over $180 (including shipping!!:woohoo:

It's a Morse HyVo style chain that is 52 links long, and it should be available somewhere for ~$50.00.

There are a lot of smart people on KZR, and I'm sure they know a lot more people, so someone ought to know where I can buy one, or have one made.

I have already e-mailed Jeff at Z1, but he must be pretty busy as he hasn't replied yet.

You can get them from Klasmo if Jeff doesn't have them.

Z-Power in the UK has them for the same price as Klasmo, but shipping would still make them $180+ :(

Chain of the same width but 66-72 links is available for snowmobiles for ~$70, so it seems like a 52 link chain should be no more than that.

Being a cheapskate can be a lot of work sometimes :D

I think Jeff is still in the process of moving.

I still have that 650 engine that's making it's way around the state. ;) Don't know how stretched it is.

Jeff must be really busy, I emailed him a couple days ago, and he hasnt really been on here in awhile. If you cant find anything Steell, maybe Jeff could get a big order to save on shipping if a bunch of us all placed an order....just an idea:)

I have never heard of a 650/750 primary chain breaking, but since I am going all out on rebuilding this motor it's better to not take a chance, plus I would prefer a non rattling primary chain.

I am not worried about Jeff, I am sure he will answer just as soon as he has a chance to do so.

I'm doing some research at the moment and looking for someone to make up a bunch of chains, Borg Warner is not really interested in anything less than a million dollar order, and that's not going to happen, but other places make them under license.

And I do a daily scan of eBay of course, maybe a NOS one will pop up :)

Steell, does anyone carry TourMax parts in the US? They make a replacement chain - not sure if it´s cheaper than OEM, but it´s worth a try.

Btw these bikes all use the same primary chain (OEM 13122-007):

77-83 KZ 650 B1-B3, C1-C3, D1-D2, E1/F1-F4, H1-H3

80-83 KZ 750 E1-E3, H1-H4, L1-L3, N1-N3

83-85 ZX 750 A1-A3 UniTrak (GPz)

91-94 ZR 750 C1-C4

You could also check a Honda dealer, the same chain is used on the 79-83 Honda CB900 F/C - the Honda OEM no. is 13610-438-004

77 KZ 650 B1, 82 GPz 1100 B2.

No problem. The Honda price quote you got is app. half of what the TourMax costs over here ($230), but I have no real basis for comparison as I don´t know the cost of an OEM chain - however TourMax parts are usually a whole lot cheaper than OEM parts, so it might be worth your while to check if anyone in the US carries them.
