i am thinking about boring a kz 900 out to a 1015
this is a lot of metal to remove hasanybody done it and what are the draw backs to it other than thin cylinder walls.
Why not just pick up a 1977-1980 1000 pistons and jugs?? They are a 1015 already! Watch ebay, you can pick up nice sets for around $75.00 or less.
Just my thoughts...
Pat
EDIT: If you want I can point you towards a gentleman that sells on ebay that parts Kawasaki's and is fantastic to deal with!! He does do deals on the side ( SHHH ) and I know of at least one other memeber here that HIGHLY recommends him.

1974 900 Z1 modified to look like a LTD , some engine mods. But I still have all the original parts.

Why ruin a good bike, just buy a 77 or 78 z1000... they are still quite cheap and then you can keep everything original.

why waste the $$?.. i vote for the block/pistion idea.. very easy and very cheap
if ur looking at sum 1015 aftermarket drop in pistons. i have a 78 kz1000 block that just need honing that ill sell. i can get it honed for $20 and have a new lower gasket(the one between the block and cases) ill threw in for $5.

I have a set of 1015 pistons that i will not be using anymore. They are from my drag motor. Have no idea what compression ratio they are. Going to 1200.
are u going to the 1200cc high comp?.. is this going to be a street bike?.. if so let me know how everything works out and how well runs on the street. i heard that it would over heat like crazy at stop lights.
