I had a cam cover leak like that. You said you have had it off so you might want to check there.

everything down there looks stock, so I'll go with the cam tensioner theory for now. the only spray deodorant i have at the house was clear, so i'll have to wait tilli go by the store to confirm the location of the leak.... where does one get a gasket for a cam chain tensioner, I didn't see one over at jeff's?

Not to throw gas on a fire but it looks like your center carbs have been leaking too. The bowl looks the color of the oil.

I think I have a cam tensioner gasket. Mine should be the same as yours. i will check when I get home and send it off to you if I have it. Also if you wanna swing by this weekend I should have my new Colortune in. That is the spark plug with the crystal bottom so you can see into the combustion chamber and set each carb so that the mixture is just right. I can't wait to play with it. You are welcome to come by and see how it works on your bike. Later

gris -- that gas leak's not a problem, it's a feature! how else will I obtain that elusive petrochemical aroma that kzriders are famous for and the ladies love?

It's raining in Tennessee today, so no test rides to check the source of the oil, but I did look on kawasaki.com at the blowup of my tensioner, and it appears that there is only an o-ring there, can
I replace this with any old o-ring that fits?

I just replaced the two O-Rings in my oil-pressure switch and it took care of the problem on my 88 KZ1000J. Looks very similar to what you are experiencing. Worth a try - the O-Rings run about $.90 each
