Oil Cooler Question... was created by KawasakiBob
Living in the desert, I try just about anything to cool down the beast.

Here's my question, would a stock oil cooler from an 81 or 82 GPz 1100 fit on my 82 1000J ?

I know they have alot of similarities, but are there any specific mods I'd have to do to make it fit?

There's already the mounting tabs on my frame (I assume its the same as the ELR) for one, but fitting it to the engine is my biggest concern...

Yes, the oil cooler will from an 81/82 GPz1100 will fit. But you'll need the adapter (Kawi labels it as: "FITTING,OIL COOLER") that the oil pressure switch screws into, since that's where the oil cooler lines mount to on a GPz1100.
The adapter ("FITTING") is located on top of the crankcase, slightly to the right of the cam chain tensioner.
Both the GPz1100 and your KZ1000 J use the same oil pressure switch (27010-1013), so the adapter (and new mounting o-rings) is all that you should need.

You'll need 2 adapters for Your J motor,as far as I know.
There's 2 of them on My engine...an inlet and an outlet line to complete the cycle.B)
