You need a spacer plate under the block. .040" will work if you are using a base gasket on both sides. You can use .063" with no base gaskets.

Has the head been modified to use on the KZ style engine?

Will the 0.040 spacer on the KZ head and cylinder lower the compression with the J model pistons?

You are really confusing me. Which head do you have??? Show us a photo of it too.

It's the stock head off a 76 KZ900 also the Pistons have 4549ps on them if that helps. Sorry for the confusion.
