BIG BORE KITS FOR Gpz 550? was created by kawadruida
Hi guys:

Does anybody know about big bore kits for the ´84 Gpz550 engine?

How much these things approximately cost, and exactly what do they include? (pistons/rings, pins, connecting rods, etc.)

Which is the best brand? Are new head and cams needed?

I guess any qualified mechanic could do the job, right?

A friend of mine who lives in Florida is travelling down here by year´s end, and he told me he could bring it over for me, so if I can have some data to check out, It´ll be great.

Cheers

I'd suggest checking with KZr member CoreyClough for info.
I believe he currently has the Wiseco 610cc kit in his '85 ZX550 GPz.

You could also check on GPz550.com for details/info. B)

I think Wiseco is the only one currently making the kits, and I believe they are around $450 USD.

I just checked and apparently the price has increased, it is now $483.85 direct from Wiseco, although I am sure that it can be obtained at a lower price elsewhere.

$376.95 at Pro-Flo

Thanks a lot! That´s not as expensive as I thought -I mean Pro-Flo price-, must check import fees though...

Is it advisable/needed to replace some other parts at the same time? i.e. crankshaft metals, connecting rod bushings, head & cams, carb jets, etc.

Or can I just have it re-bored, toss new kit in and that´s it?

Here go my questions again:

Is it advisable to change some other engine parts when overboring? (i.e: crankshaft metals, con rod bushings, etc.)

Is some head/cam job needed?

Please let me know because all extra job means extra $$$...
