Jay,
I was planning on having a 1428 low compression engine built but from all of the threads I have been reading and how you come and offer advice I suppose I really should just ask you for a list of everything I need to build my bike so that it would be 100% streetable. I would like to ride from Chicago to California and not worry about breaking down on the way. I want a bullet proof bike most bang I can get and still be able to ride without the fear of having my engine meltdown on me the first time I stop in traffic or such.

I have an incredible amount of respect for you guys who know the ins and the outs of this bike. I have had mine since 88 but have been on the back of a z1 my dad had used as a loaner bike. It was then I decided that this was the bike I wanted. I could just buy a fast bike I suppose but a dynosaur like mine sounds so much more appealing.

Ok guys i'm getting kinda bored w/ my bike. Are any of you guys runnin a 1428 engine on the street ??? I'm contemplating having a 1428 kit put in my bike this winter, well i'm not gonna do it,if i follow through w/ that plan i'm gonna crate it up and send it to Star Racing,G.B will help it make some happy power. If anyone is runnin this setup, what kinda cams are working for you on the street and what kinda carb setup are you running.

Why ask a question like this if you're going to ship the motor to Star Racing? They'll be the ones who will ultimately build the motor. Call them. Discuss what you'd like to accomplish. Then listen to EVERYTHING they have to say and follow through with it.

The biggest downside to these real big street motors is breathing. Even if you had a drag race port job done, you can not run cams big enough. Our 435 lift is the largest we sell people who are riding on the street. Anything larger dramatically shortens valve spring life.

So it is really the valve springs limiting the amount of cam you can use, which puts a limit on the breathing.
