oil leak cyl head was created by kawapower
Hi! Need help. 1981 KZ1000 developed oil leak between cylinders 2 & 3 where the cylinder head meets the cylinder block. There is an o-ring type seal here between the two head gaskets. I tore the top end down, cleaned everything, and replaced with new (aftermarket) gaskets including new o-ring seal. Put it together, fired it up, and voila, worse leak than before at the same spot! Could'nt see any cracks. Does anyone make a slightly oversize o-ring seal? Does the cylinder block/head surface need to be surfaced? Does anybody have any suggestions? Help!!!

You can put heavy duty cylinder studs in it that will allow you to torque it down tighter.
That model is notorious for having junk paper base gaskets. They start to literally dissolve and you can't keep the studs tight. Put a Cometic base gasket in it while it is apart.

might also wanna switch to a cometic head gasket...its a one piece design that eliminates that crappy o ring..
