It had us all fooled was created by calvinbjdd
Well, my first bike fix has come and gone. Everyone thought the knocking sound was a transmission problem, but we were all wrong. It ends up the sound was the front fender. At high speeds, there wasn't enough clearance between itself and the tire. (for the long version of the story, which is a little funny and fairly interesting, go <a href="

">here.) So, the end result is I was set back $120, and I got a new chain and all new fluids in the motorcycle. I don't think I did too bad, I just wish it didn't take so long. I'll be back on the road in a few hours though, so all is well.

You know, I've often thought that a really good way to investigate "mystery" noises would be to mount a small spy-type video camera on the bike pointing at the suspected area, since it's so difficult to look the bike over at high speeds... I don't know how to do that, but I think it would be a great help for goofy problems like yours.... and mine...

It's common in my experience for simple troubles to get over looked in favor of some complicated one. I have done it lots of times but more often I have solved them. It's a good lesson..that I keep getting!
