Too Rich?? was created by Jackman
Last Saturday night we were racing when we had a plug wire start cutting out. While i was working on it another guy checked the header temp with an infra-red temp gun. Our #1 pipe was not as hot as the others by quite a bit but it was #3 i was working on. Is #1 running rich? The engines been running awesome as of late and the driver/owner dosn't want to adjust it. Do you guys agree it's too rich or might it be something else? (95 ZX11)

The colder pipe means the cylinder was not firing. This is caused by any number of things. The bike will run a bit better on 4 cylinder...
Non-firing usually means one of the following:
1. no compression (check valve clearances)
2. no spark (ignition or power to ignition)
3. no fuel to combustion chamber

Thanks WG i guess i'll have to read the plugs tonight or tomorrow. We shimmed the valves the night before and we're replacing the wires, coils and plugs tomorrow. The pipe wasn't cold but it was cooler then the others by like 150 degrees. Even the one with the cut wire was hotter.
