That last post was uncalled for.
Any way. I saw a bmw at mid ohio with a factory badge for every 100,000 miles it was rode. It had them up to 700,000. It looked it too. Roy

That Honda PC-800 is a very nice bike. Comfortable on the long haul. Plenty of storage space. Water cooled V twin with 2 plugs per and good gas mileage(45/50mpg on freeway at 80/70MPH)) too. Only shortcoming is that the plastics tend to start falling off at 120k miles. I met a couple with well over 200k miles of two up riding on theirs and it was still going strong. Oil changes, valve adjustments, coolant changes, and fresh plugs is all that's been done to the engine. It looks more like a momma scooter. Friend has one and takes it to scooter night sometimes. It dwarfs all the 'standard' size scooters. You can't find a nice one for less than $3K for older models and newer run around $5K

I ride an 82 KZ-1000 to work and back (100 miles total) every day except for January 1 thru April 15th. I get 45 miles to the gallon and I figure that I am saving at least $3,500 a year. I have been doing this for 4 and 1/2 years now and the bike still performs like a race horse. After these 4 - 1/2 years I now plan to pull the valve cover to replace the cam end seals and reset the vaves. Untill now, my bike only needed attention to the tires, filters, oil, and chain.

These bikes have exceptional reliability. I do not belive the general attitude of the people on this web site - tearing down their bikes for every little thing. A stock KZ can easliy give you 65,000 to 75,000 before you need to even look at the cylinder / piston wear.

It depends on the bike. A police bike with 46k miles of downtown cruising at 20-30mph will have a tired top end. A bike that some kid ran on dirt roads in rural arkansas without air filters will need top end work with only 10k miles on it. An old xs650 that got rain in through one carb will have a pitted liner and smoke like the dickens with only 12k miles on it. Trust me, I've seen them ;-) Friends cb750C DOHC has 0 compression on the middle two jugs after 68k miles.
