so im getting ready to take apart my engine to see whats making the slight banging sounds...is there any specialty tools i may need and if there are broken parts are any of the engine parts hard to find,,, and finally is there anywhere i can get the tourqe specs for the engine...its a kz1000st 79'

you can do most stuff with basic hand tools and a torque wrench,see if you can get a shop manual for it.

You have a MKII style motor and most (if not all) the innards are more or less available. Shop manual first!!!(Kawasaki edition is the first choice [eBay is the source of all manuals], then maybe Clymer or Haynes). It will detail how to disassemble and will have a list of special tools. You can get by without some of them but some just make your life easier. For example the valve adjustment tool (the $56.00 one, not the cheap one) works really well. The valve compressor tool also is a jewel but some folks here have made their own (I bought one but they are pricey). As mentioned by wireman, torque wrenches (one in inch/lbs, the other in ft/lbs)...and a decent set of metric sockets and wrenches.
