You have the expensive kit that includes the housing.
Most people get the cheep kit that only includes the seals. You just need to remove the nut that holds the flat (hold down) plate and use a set of plyers to pull out the housing. The Tach Drive Worm Gear and Shaft may come out with it but this is easy to put back in.
I did this on an 82 KZ-1000 CSR with a Vetter faring in place and it was still pretty easy.
Take care you do not screw up the stud for the nut that holds the flat plate.

With the Fairing..AMAZING. That thing is a b#*ch to get at without a fairing, I can't imagine with.
So, where could I get this kit with only seals. That link above was only for reference.
Thanks, Live long and prosper

Z1 Enterprises probably has the seals for your tach drive.
www.z1enterprises.com
Find your bike model, then check Engine Parts. You may have to look at several pages to find it.
The o-rings should only cost two or three dollars. It will probably cost more in shipping.

My tach drive has two o-rings, and the oil seal. Don't know if yours is the same, but if it has o-rings on the barrel of the drive unit, then you may need to replace them as well.
Here's what mine lookes like:

I have also seen these kits on Ebay. Be sure and replace all the seals and orings, or you will be doing it again. I think the 2 oring/1 seal configuration is pretty standard for Kaws.

Ok, now whats the easiest way to remove that seal. Its in there pretty good. Can I just cut it out since I won't be using it anyway?
I got the o-ring off safely, but that seal won't budge.
A little help.....
