Sorry, need some help again

I took off the right side engine cover, the one that houses the ignition system.  I got the part polished and ordered a new oil seal to go against the block and in the hole in the cover housing.  All the parts diagrams I look at it's supposed to be part #92049-1033.  I ordered that from the local dealer.  The problem is it doesn't not fit in the housing, it's loose.  I found a photo here, while searching, just to show the seal I'm talking about.  There also seems nothing to drive the seal onto, on the crankshaft.  Lastly, the new seal is loose on the tiny bit of shaft behind the ignition.  Any thoughts?  BTW, 2000 KZ1000P

For comparison, see the images posted with ebay item 374342672556

Those images show a Genuine Kawasaki part 92949-1033 with great detail.

It is common for there to be no "stop" to drive seals against, just drive it in until flush with the housing.  Lastly, the new seal is loose on the tiny bit of shaft behind the ignition.(again, is it an OE seal ?)  Any thoughts?  BTW, 2000 KZ1000P
I would suggest that you fit the housing on the motor before installing the seal, this is because with the two locating dowels on the housing it needs to go on square to the motor. This makes it very easy to "flip" the seal on install (see pic of what I found when I stripped my motor) another tip when installing seals is to place a narrow strip of thin cardboard between the seal and shaft. Once the seal is in slide the cardboard around the circumference of the seal and this help seat the inner lip correctly.

Thank you all.  Wookie, yes, it's an OEM seal purchased from the local Kawasaki dealer.  I did place the cover on the bike.  The seal is still loose inside the cover.  If I do as you say and use some cardboard to move the inner seal over the crankshaft, the seal will still be loose inside the cover, it won't make it expand to fit the cover.

Yes, that cover I posted a photo of, was not my bike.  It was one I found here to help describe what I was trying to properly explain.

If as you say it's the correct OEM seal then I suspect you will need to source another cover (in my opinion any attempt to bodge it in with sealant or adhesive will likely be short lived) just be aware the cover and pick up coils are unique to the "P" model 91 - 05 (the cardboard thing is only to seat the inner lip)

I would measure both the bore and thickness on the cover and the shaft and just order an appropriate size seal. That seal is 25mmx40mmx7mm, at least on an early Z1 housing. If your seal says that and its loose than you need a new cover. Remove the cover install the seal use a new gasket (make one) and your done.  But looking at the Kawasaki part it is a seal with a number of AC1893F which has dimension of 32mmx48mmx7mm. Best way is to measure the bores and shaft to make sure.

That's what I'm wondering, if it actually is the correct seal.  I ordered the one posted up higher in the thread, from eBay.  We'll see if that works.  If it does not, then I'll do as suggested and measure the bore and lip then order a seal based on those measurements.
