Z900 cam box cover
09 Feb 2026 10:12
Hi all
i have a 1978 Z650b2, us import, is it possible to fit a z900 cam box cover (with the rounded end caps ), and if so what modifications would be required? I have been told it can be done but would like to know if anyone has done this or has any tips to help .
thanks In anticipation

Apart from a passing resemblance the 650 and 900/1000 cam covers are totally different and not interchangable no matter what you do .
You should be looking at the 750 zephyr engine which has a 900 style rounded cover that fits.
The 750 Zeph is based on the earlier z650/750 engines..

Here is a comparison of the two cam covers :
The 650 cover (at the top) is 23mm wider than the Z1 cover plus the bolt holes are way different. Like Zed1015 said the closest thing to a Z1 cover as far as "looks" is the 750 Zephyr cam cover (see below)
