Cam Cap Locating Pin / Bolt Guide
Today 19:11 - Today 19:15
Does anybody know what the proper name / part number is for these cam cap guides on a 1983 Kawasaki KZ750 four? I for the life of me can not find a part number in my manual nor can I seem to land a successful google search. I have only been able to find the case/head locating pins. My head was missing three of them when I disassembled it for a valve job. If they're unobtainimum is it possible to just make my own? I have all the measurements and they don't seem like they would be too horrible to cut out of some proper diameter tube.

Called a Dowel. Kawasaki part # is 92042-007. And..preferred to assemble with tapered end towards cam cap. Yours look like they are assembled tapered side installed into the head. This just aids in alignment when setting the cam caps. Helps "guide/centers" dowel to caps.

Today 00:57The part you refer to is called a "Tappet" often referred to as buckets or cam followers (part number below) they are common across most of the 550 - 650 - 750 - 1100 Kawasaki 4@s so shouldn't be too hard to find some.Does anybody know what the proper name / part number is for these cam cap guides on a 1983 Kawasaki KZ750 four? Your second question - you could only make these if you have a fully equipped machine shop and facilities to "heat treat" then grind and polish to the correct size. Reading your post I am going to hazard a guess you are relatively new to this stuff so I would advise downloading the factory manual from the file base here on the site, then read and digest before you attempt to re-assemble your motor. It is relatively straight forward but the price for "getting it wrong" is high.
