Oil leaking out of points cover
23 Aug 2025 11:37
Hi guys, preparing for initial break in of my Z1, trying to stop various leaks. I didnt bother putting a gasket on the right side cover, (the cover between the case and the points cover) because i didnt expect any oil to be there. Why would there be? Well, oil is leaking out of there now. Is it normal for oil to be there?

Yes! It is normal for oil to be in there and the cover needs a gasket, That's why there is also an oil seal on the housing behind the advancer..
The two openings at the bottom of the case in your pic are open to the engine internals and are there to allow oil overflow from the crank bearing to return to the sump.
