87 KZ305 Spring Plate Pusher not springy
02 May 2025 07:13
Hi Guys, I am not experienced at this but trying hard.
Putting my 87 KZ305B2 back together after cleaning the oil strainer behind the oil pump and.....
When reinstalling the right side cover I am having difficulty with the clutch, it seems the spring plate pusher is not springing in and out like I seem to remember.
Any suggestions? 15K on the bike.

Re: 87 KZ305 Spring Plate Pusher not springy
Today 12:23
Problem solved, got it put back together today.
It was a combination of frozen clutch friction plates and that it is difficult to move that spring plate pusher without the cable installed for leverage.
Removed and oiled up all the stuck clutch friction plates. They tested within spec.
2 or 3 of the steel clutch plates had rust on a few teeth, I sanded those down staying away from the dimples in the steel plates.
Shifts smoother now, will do a full ride later after the rain abates.
