Oil leak

Hi all
my 1978 z650, us import to the uk has been leaking oil from around the gear selector lever but only when the bike is on the side stand, it has been stood for almost 6 months and I have noticed the oil level sight glass is showing full, could the leak be due to standing so long? and is it possible to replace the oil seal without a strip down?.
thanks

The seal for the shaft is in the transmission cover, located behind the sprocket cover.  A fairly easy fix.  I suggest replacing all the seals in the transmission cover, to ward off future issues.

You may want to check more before changing the seals. You want to smell the oil, it may be gasoline in it and if it is it will leak for sure when standing a long time. You mention that oil is rising in the sightglass that is a big indicator that fuel has entered the crankcase .If a  floatvalve is leaking or a float is stuck it can happend that fuel dribbling into crancase when parked if the fuelpetcock also leak a little or if it not shut off.
