Kz750e dyno
31 Jul 2024 16:20
Hello guys, my bike just left the dyno.. somebody would like to know how many horsepower it gonna have.. so New engine oversize 0.5mm(150psi each one), vm28ss carburetor with pod filter, mild porting, milled head, 4-1 exhaust. 72whp 9500rpm and 43ft torque at the weel 8000rpm(12.3 to12.8 AFR). Don’t know if its good.. my clutch is slipping like hell with Rotella 15w-40 ?!! Dont know if its the clutch or oil?!

The claimed factory rating for a 1980 KZ750-E1 with stock parts was 74 HP SAE (at the crank) A rating at the wheel is usually 10-12% lower ( = 66 to 67 HP) They did not mention torque but I would guess around 40 LBFT. You gained a little bit of HP with exhaust and carb swap, seems normal to me.

That sounds excellent to me! I'm surprised it's that much. Sounds like a sweet ride!

New OEM clutch springs. The oil is fine.

I use Rotella in my bikes with no clutch issues. Just make sure the oil has the JASO certification.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

This would suggest an adjustment or cable issue (not enough "free-play") if the clearance is too small the clutch will heat up and reduce the clearance further (like resting your foot on the pedal in a car)

With age and mileage, the fiber plates are known to petrify. It may be time for a new set.
