Hello I was wondering if the '91 zephyr 750 engine is the same up to '95? I need a starter motor and was wondering if a 1992 zr750 starter motor would bolt right in and if it has the correct size Bendix with the correct amount of teeth?

What engines and years would have a compatible starter motor with the correct Bendix that would bolt right on?

I can't find just the Bendix for sale anywhere and am going to have to order a whole starter motor, and there is one from a 1992 for a fraction of the price...

Or preferably does anyone have the starter Bendix they'd want to sell? My starter motor is fine and would rather not order a whole starter motor replacement for over $200 just because my Bendix which would cost a fraction of the price is grinded down.
Thanks in advance.

You can see which models used the same starter on the Fitment list at Partzilla.

I do not know exactly what you mean by the Bendix, but all of the individual parts were once available, many still are.

You might want to check Stockers.  They sell rebuilt starters and rebuild kits.  A good source.

@TexasKZ im referring to the gear on the starter.. sadly they don't manufacture them anymore so no parts store has them in stock.

it's called the starter motor drive pinion at least in the Chilton manual.

Not sure if this will be of help or not.  cmsnl shows they have it at least it does not show it as not available.  They also show a newer/superseeded version of the same part

Hi Robby, not trying to be a "smart ass" but these starters don't have a "Bendix" (the helical gear on a car starter that throws the starter into engagement with the flywheel) these are permanently engaged hence the need for a "starter clutch"
