77 KZ 650 Starter Clutch

I've been putting this job for sometime, but I plan to tackle it over the winter. I/ve read, and watched a few videos on the process so have a pretty good understanding of project.
So My  question is , what parts to use.? There are new complete starter clutch assemblies available on e-bay, manufactured in Poland . Or do I just replace the rollers, buttons, and springs with new Kawasaki parts using the original housing.? Only want to do this job once!

Well, how lucky do you feel?  Failing to replace the gear can affect function and/or long term durability.  A brand-new OEM gear can be found on ebay for $92.73, so, I know what I'd do...

Just replacing the roller dogs and springs and you'll be doing it again in 6 months.
Depending on the condition of your starter gear you may just get away with just a complete starter clutch but for the sake of a few extra dollars/pounds/euro/yen whilst your in there I'd replace the starter gear also. 
There is an upgrade by fitting a zx7 unit which people have done but you'd have to do your research regarding additional parts required as I've heard conflicting stories.

Ten starts after that "NEW" gear is installed, it will look like the USED gear.  I'm not saying that new gears are a waste of money, what I do suggest, though, is that you can't judge the condition of the gear by visually comparing it to a new one.  

Only if the engine is in poor condition with badly set up carbs and you need to turn the engine over on the starter for prolonged periods until it catches. 

I, on my Z650 B2, have replaced only rollers and springs and nothing has changed. With cold engine it doesn't work, while with a small hot engine it works very well.
Could the problem be given by modern oils compared to those used in the 70s?

Your mistake was only to replace the springs and rollers. At the very best that will only last about six months.
At the very least, to do the job properly, you need to replace the whole unit. 
Also carefully inspect the starter gear. If it show signs of ridges that needs replacing or refacing also. 
 

Unfortunately I didn't have enough experience, but in summer it works well. However I love riding my Z650 even more than my Yamaha Tracer 900.I'll fix it in a while, for now I'm enjoying it like this.
