Cam chain sprockets check was created by Fox
Hello,

i'm looking on my 3 cam chain sprockets.

I have one : nothing is moving inside. (back one)
I have one : the metal center pin can roll imself (top one)
I have ome : all metal parts can move themself inside (front one) -- (For this one it can be easy to remove the center pin with a finger)

Is that normal or they are worn ?

Best,
Fox

If anything other that their axles rotate or move independantly of the sprocket they must be replaced or repaired.

Better to replace but not important...
I mean the cam chain sprocket just turn around the idler guide...
Whatever it turn ones (just the sprocket) or twice (the sprocket and the centre axel) or 3 times (the sprocket the centre axel and the other metal part inside.)
It's just worn and i have to think to replace the last one but can be used like this for the moment... no ?

Personally, I think the risk is too high. If it fails, the result could be a destroyed engine. Since the engine is already open, now is the time to replace them all. Take a close look at the chain, too. Measure it for stretch to be sure it is not also needing to be replaced. Liska makes excellent replacement sprockets.

The idler sprockets have a needle roller bearing in the middle.
Only the axles should rotate in the bearing .
The rest of the sprockets are bonded together and should behave as one piece.
If any other part or sleeve etc moves independently the idler is faulty..

Yes. On the 3 have one is working like that. One good.
One have a little play but it can do the trick  for the moment. I will replace it in future.
One i can remove the inside with a finger so i replace this one.

Is it possible to see if the top idler is worn or not ? I have the oem one with the pin.
Is it a way to remove this pin? Do i need to drill it ?

Also how to know if my cam chain need to be replaced ?
