currently on #2 ex there is a 2.20mm shim and clearance shows a whopping .55mm
so what shim would i need for achieving a clearance of .20mm

#4 in  have .30mm clearance and a 2.40 shim
I believe I'm looking for clearance to be about @ .15mm to .20mm

#3 ex has clearance of .35mm with a 2.40 shim
looking to achieve about .20mm to .25mm clearance

any help is certainly appreciated
thanks

If this is for a KZ900/1000 you need 0.15mm valve clearance for stock cams ( up to 0.17mm max ).
0.18mm for Unitrack cams..
Then a max of 0.20mm for race cams.
0.25mm is miles to wide.

To calculate your shim size just add the current clearance to the shim size and deduct 0.15mm.
So for #2 add 0.55 mm clearance to the 2.20mm shim = 2.75mm and deduct the 0.15mm clearance required and you get 2.60 shim needed.
255 shim for #4
260 shim for #3

You'll have plenty of adjustment room for years of more rides. Good job.

Thanks from me also, I'm in the process of calculating shim sizes for my 1974 Z1A.  I'm "reviving" -- it's been asleep for the last 22 years, now I'm retired and needed a project
2nd owner, I've owned it since 1977
Work done in 1981:
1015 bore kit
