Hi just In the process of getting my kz750 h ltd ready to run checking the timing  t mark 1/4 cam marks line up but where should the cutaways face as previous owner had removed cam sprockets thanks

See page 56 in the factory service manual. The bolt holes with the circle around them are to be used for the intake cam and the bolt holes with the square around them for the exhaust cam.

Looking from the right ( ignition side) number four intake and exhaust cam lobes should point away from each other.

Hi in my manual the picture of the cams have the lobes on the intake and exhaust in different position do the cam gear wheel fit 180 degrees out which is why I asked asked about the cut aways on camshaft ends thanks guys

Looks like previous owner fixed cam sprockets in wrong holes thanks for all the advice are these engines interference or non interference ie do I need to pull the head to check valves thanks guys
