As the magnet and edge material breakdown continues in your engine, the larger fragments will end up in the oil pan, and the rest should ideally get trapped in the filter.

The rotor only missing some area of the epoxy glue you can easy re-new.
Nothing wrong or worry about the rotor...

For example, Yamaha R1 rotors are common to known to lost the neodym magnets strips due to glue failures.
The next gen R1 rotors have thin metal sheet drum belt to hold the magnet stips in place if the glue failed.

I guess in this case at least, the debris is in someone else's oil pan    Lol

“New” rotor should be here from Germany in a week or so. In the meantime, I got back to the carburation, as I have a very rich condition.

Took the carbs out and measured rhe float height. Some adjustment was needed and I am now waiting to be able to test the bike.

Gave it a go again at balancing the carbs (as I couldn’t before). Quite satisfied with the end result.

Got carried away with rich carbs and followed a thread in carbs, so left this thread a bit abandoned. Back in business. New “intact” rotor from Germany arrived and has been installed. Charges well and makes no noise. All is well there.

in regards to carbs I have now assembled yet another set of carbs. I found a set of carb carcasses really cheap and really clean in Germany, so I decided to forget about those funny restrictors by us carbs had, and start from scratch.

i have now transplanted everything and have also mounted the repaired (by @zed1015) choke plungers, together with new rubber boots. Choke rod works now as it should.

i am finishing now to set up float levels and expect to do a test start later on tonight.

Let’s see if this will run well now. Cheers!

Assembled it, started it and balanced it. It is running well in all 4 cylinders and sounds "different" now, sounds "rounder".

I will take her for a spin tomorrow morning and see how she behaves. Fingers crossed!

Amazing! Extremely happy to see that, finally, the bike runs as it should.

Snappy when it reaches 3k rpm (accelerates hard), and has a clean acceleration all over. Keeps a great
idle when hot and I briefly took it over 7k rpm, so I guess that 6k problem is solved as well.

Have found a couple of electrical “gremlins”, os so I think, namely:

- Speedo does not work, but odometer does
- sometimes, when accelerating, the tacho needle will hesitate, but not the engine
- very occasionally the oil red light will light for a millisecond, when idling. Will keep an eye of this.

Next steps; get its MOT and get some miles on it.

really happy. Thank you all for your help!

And yes, this is it! Got it’s MOT and finally got her on the road. Just a short (60 km) round trip to get acquainted with, and the realisation it is a much more manouverable bike than I expected, and a really nice engine, with great acceleration. I still did not thrash it, as it has done less than 100 km on the new pistons, but everything works at it should.

great experience.

need to get my speedo fixed, or I will start collecting fines really soon!

cheers

Congratulations!  Your bike reminds me of when i was a kid about 11.I remember one of my neighbors had maroon LTD1000 parked outside there i used to stand and study them ,there was also many other kawasakis parked outside where i lived. One z1r  one blue kz650  a black ?Z1000  and a green z900 a yamaXT500  and a suki katana 1100 so i think that is how i got infected with motorcycle virus. No cure no meds can stop it.

Congrats Cartal!! As you've found, those BS34's are NOT all the same. The Jet needles/needle jet combination is critical. A lot of times person, without knowing, just mix-match bits that fit. Leads to a lot of running crappy issues. Have fun now!!
