Hi everyone I have a 1983 kz1100 shaft with a grinding noise from the gear box and diff (not sure if that’s what it’s call on a motorcycle). See attached video and let me know if you have any diagnostic opinions thanks guys!
a few notes: 
It makes noise in all gears, sometimes to shift into 4th and 5th I have to hold the shift lever up while I release the clutch to get it to stay in gear otherwise it’s false neutral. Also the rear wheel has at least 2 inches of play when the bike is off and in gear before it engages the transmission.
