1982 GPZ750 rod bearings was created by 750 R1
Hi Guys. I'm chasing rod bearings for my 1982 GPZ750 R1 engine and can't seem to find any, I've contacted Kawasaki here in Australia and they have nothing.
I have sent an email to a friend in the UK  asking of availability there,  but thought I'd ask here as well ..

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, I got mine just few years back through evilbay. Not sure how many and what you need, but you WILL pay for them. Try it with part # and see if any turns up. I know our rod bearing is unique due to hole at upper bearing. maybe you can use one without it?

I haven't tried Yahoo Japan auction, but when I was looking for it, it did turned up from time to time.Again, you'll need to use part # to look it up. Their's one was cheaper if I'mnot mistaken, but I needed in a hurry so looked in US Evilbay.

EDIT: Just went to these guys and seems as they still have some. I go there from time to time to get parts that's unavailable. But let me warn you. After you pay them and that dreaded message from the seller telling you "parts not available" may be on the way. happened to me several times already. They will refund you right away, but thought I mention that.

750 R1- Are you looking for the rod bearings with the hole for the piston squirter drilled in it?
If so, you “may” be able to get by with using  the standard upper bearing shell and drilling the hole yourself.

The rods with piston squirters were only used on certain 750’s from 82-83 before being discontinued. So bearing for those have been very hard to find for years.
I considered using squirter rods on my engine build but I honestly could find a complete set of rods, much less new bearings.

Food for thought

Gday Rusty, yeah, no problem drilling out the bearings if I have to. It seems that the bearings without the squirter holes have different colours and part numbers, now I have to workout which one correspond to the part numbers I have, because I just looked at the link Ojisan rider posted above and the part numbers and colours are different to what's in the Kawasaki workshop manual I have for the 1982 GPZ 750R1....
I need 8 black  Kawasaki pn 13034-051 and 2 green  Kawasaki pn13034-050.  I want the 2 extra greens as 2 of my crank bearing journals measure right at the transition for the next size bearing, just to be safe..

I believe as long as you use the connecting rod and crank “0” or “no mark” decision tree, that will lead you to the standard bearing shell color codes you need. (Which is what I believe you have done)
As Kawasaki didn’t make special cranks for the gpz, so it stands to reason they used the same journal measurements and markings. (I know for certain that Kawasaki used the piston squirter rods in other models for a time, but the oiling passage was not drilled out. So those would have used standard bearings shells.)
Fit them up in the rod, torque the caps on,  drill the oil hole, chamfer the hole in the bearing surface then bolt them up.

Hi rusty, yeah, I did the mark,no mark thing then used a dial gauge to the journals, so The measurements and part numbers are good. I'm having no trouble getting the mains, just the rod bearings are a problem. I may have found some in the UK but they're bloody expensive. Thanks for your help...

I just bought parts from CMSNL and was going to get the bearings too, I'm getting the crank main bearings from them but they have no black big end bearings, that's what  its showing at my end...   Can you post a link please Anders ?  The part number is 13034051 black bearings , It's also saying 18:50 euro for them...  Link below

Found this under KZ700. If they actually have it, I'm not sure. You can always message them.

Thanks for the link, it still doesn't really help, even though there may be bearings there that may fit, they are Black, brown and Blue, I'd have to know the bearing specs for the 700 to make sure I was getting the correct bearings, they have different colours and part numbers , I'm after black and green...
